I am thinking about my family; my spouse and my children and how they are going to live without me.  As I sign the declaration I am thinking about how my children will live if I am killed for signing the Declaration.  I am also thinking about if the Declaration of Independence works out and how my family will be well off in a free country.  There is the fact that I might be dead, but it is more important that they live their lives freely.  I am quite afraid of dying, but I do think that it is all worth my signature.  I am also thinking about the possibility that I will not die.  There is a slight chance that this country will be free and I will still be alive when we are free.  The thought of freedom keeps my hand on the paper; the thought keeps my hand writing my signature.  I am also thinking about the future lives of the free Americans who should always thank God that we are a free country.
