There are some basic things to bear in mind when u begin to use chatrooms. If you read the following tips then you should have happy times chatting and meet some new friends online. You have been warned

1 Do not come in a room and say hi room and expect everyone to say hi, some people are bound to be busy.

2 Do not whine and whinge if you are not immediately the centre of attention, this is one way to guarantee you are the centre of attention for all the WRONG reasons, and will probably be the next candidate for peoples ignore list.

3 Do not PM (private message) someone before chatting to them in the room. Most people hate it, would you walk into someones house or go sit with them in a restaurant without being invited? Oh and dont try and argue the toss with someone who wont pm a total stranger, they have their reasons, just grow up and accept NO for an answer.

4 If you PM someone without asking and get a message back saying "sorry no PM" or similar, don't take it too personally and launch into a torrent of abuse, either chat in room or go someplace else.

5 Coming into a room and moaning about how boring it is, is just going to get you abuse.

6 A/S/L or age/sex/location, this is the bane of most regular chatters. To start a conversation with this is pretty lame and unimaginative. The only person who would start a convo like that in real life is Cilla Black! If you want to know more about someone then look at their profile (right click on name in user list), if its not there then odds on they dont want to give too much away before getting to know you better.

7 "buzzing" - some annoying chatters think that if you ignore their PM that by "buzzing" you it will get you to talk to them ................... WRONG. At best it will be ignored, at worst you could "buzz" the wrong chatter and get "bombed", say hello to mr blue screen for me!

8 Everyone has the right to put someone on ignore that is pissing them off, it is their perogative to let it be known that the person is pissing them off. The ignored should just accept this as fact, whining on about it will just get you iggied by the rest of the room.

9 BLOCK CAPITALS ARE SHOUTING! Type in normal type, caps are ok for emphasis but using caps all the time just makes u look like a complete attention seeking pillock.

10 " Anyone want to chat to a 19/m/Sheffield, pic on profile, PM me" - yes yes yes we read it the first time. spamming it 18 times in a minute is not going to make more people respond, but it will get u put on ignore.
