IST - Pleven.
Well, I actually thought I'd have more time to write this journal, but by the time it opened up it's almost time for me to leave.  (I know that doesn't gramatically make sense, but bear with me, I've been studying Bulgarian for the past 2 days!!)  Well, as you all probably know by now, I'm in Pleven, a large town in the northern part of Bulgaria.  I'm attending the North In-Service Training, and I couldn't be more happy that I switched!!  I'm having so much fun here.  We have all gone out and done the usual Chinese food, and pizza (along with the beer - as usual) but I've gotten to visit with so many people from the other part of the country that I don't normally get to see and that has been awesome.  I haven't gone to bed earlier than about 1am even though classes start at 9.  Oh well, it only happens once a year.

Back on the home front, I wanted to tell you guys more about my school situation.  Last Monday the Mayor came into the teachers lounge and told us that the municipality would have enough money to either pay the salaries of the teachers, or to heat the school for the winter.  ARG!!  The worst part is that he's bluffing.  I know there are more than 180 municipalities that have gone to the Ministry of Education saying they can't afford to heat the schools for the winter, but mine is not one of them.  It's mind-boggling.  I actually can't believe it.  Well, I have an excursion to get to, so I will write more about this later tonight or hopefully tomorrow.  I love you all and miss you.

Love, Sarah

ps...it's been raining for about 2-3 days now!! :):):)
