VAC, Sofia, School, Updates...
This weekend offered a much needed break for me.  I had to travel to Sofia for the VAC meeting on Saturday.  I also had a ton of things to do in the office, whish meant that on Thursday night I took the night train to Sofia (about 7 hours) and spent the day of Friday getting a lot of stuff done.  I talked to program staff about my classes, grants, World Wise Schools and a bunch of other stuff.  I was also able to snag some books in the process, as well as some posters and such for my classroom.  What fun!

I also had the chance to meet up with some friends that I haven't seen in a while, and paly catch-up with them.  We went to Balbecks for lunch, which has incredible Middle Eastern food, and then ate dinner at Stateside.  Saturday morning was spent eating Dunkin Donuts during the VAC meeting.

New info:  The 3 "stan" countries that border Afghanistan have been evacuated, and over 250 volunteers were given 3 days to pack everything.  They made it to their homes within one week.  If nothing else, Peace Corps is efficient.  If I was ever in danger, please know that they would get me out of it.  However, I am not in danger.  It was reitterated at the meeting that there is no evacuation in the future, and even if the world were to go to war, we would probably not be affected here.  Peace Corps stayed open world wide during the Vietnam war, Desert Storm, and also when the US bombed Afghanistan 2 years ago.

School is going well but I'm incredibly busy.  Dimitrina, my colleague/neighbor/friend is in Shumen for the week and I'm taking her classes as well as mine.  I'm incredibly exhausted.  I'm acutally going to go home now and eat something.

I guess that's all for now.  I don't have much else to tell you that I haven't already.  I love you and miss you all.  Take care

Love, Sarah

p.s. i received the packages!!  thanks guys!!!
