TEENAGERS ARE AMAZING By: Jamie Haskins Teenagers are amazing, I wish the world would see, Just how beautiful we are, How compassionate we can be. I wish they could take back, All the cynical things theyve said, And see how much we shine, Be positive instead. Remark on our radiant smiles, And that differences we make, All of the people our lives touch, All of the chances that we take. Notice how we change, Each and everyday, Wanting to leave childhood, Yet desperately wanting to stay. I wish they could remember, How tough our lives can be, The promises that are broken, The violence that we see. Yet still we venture onward, Unsure of where the road may lead, Hoping they will take notice, Hoping theyll take heed, Of the changes that weve made, Of the power that we hold, Of the wisdom we have hidden, Of the stories yet untold. I hope the world will notice, What some have already seen, Teenagers are amazing people, Striving to follow their dreams. THE TWO ROADS By: Whitney Welch There was a path Deep in the woods. Once it forked- The bad, the good. I chose to take The left-hand path, I did not know I had no map. Now this road that I travel Is dirty and battered. Its littered with dreams That are broken and tattered. Paved with wrongdoings And dotted with hearts, That were taken from people And just torn apart. Pain and regret Are common here. Wherever you turn, Theyre always near. I want to cross To the other path, And leave behind This painful wrath. I thought I was forever Doomed to walk. And all the gates were tightly locked. But as I continued, a footbridge I could see. A bridge of hope Called out to me. Slowly I crossed To the path of good. Finally I was on the path Of which I thought I should. Now hidden deep Within the woods. The one that forked; Paths bad and good. I once was wrong. But now Im right. And before me Glows a guiding light. My simple mistake Following the crowd. Ignoring the heart That speaks so loud. Following the crowd, Wont lead you to right. But if you follow your heart, Youll be guided by light. There was a path, Deep in the woods Once it forked- The bad, the good. Heed my warning, Because its true, Follow your heart- You know where to go. ABILITY By: Salina E. Matis Ability is to look at a blank page, and create a poem. Ability is to stare into the eyes of fear, and come out stronger because of it. Ability is to walk in to a room of strangers, and come out with friends. Ability is to admit you are wrong, when you are wrong. Ability is to get back up, when you fall down. Ability is to believe, when everything seems lost. Ability- a simple word, with complex meaning, For many, ability is never found, but for all ability is within. Ability stares everyone in the face at one time of another. Whether your ability is how well you shoot hoops, How well you flip at dancing, How smart you are at school. You have ability. For some, ability is lost by never trying. Whether never trying to shoot one more time, Never trying to bend a little more, Or never trying to score higher in school. Ability is within. Ability is yours. QUOTES THAT REMIND ME OF MY AUNT The Quotes that I am about to say are quotes that remind me of my aunt because they are very similar to things that she has said to me through out my life. She has taught me that I dont have to be anyone that I dont want to be. She taught me to take a negative and make it into a positive. Her theory is that if you want something to happen you have to be the one to make it happen. She once told me things happen for a reason if they didnt go the way you wanted dont be up set, there are three words that sum up mostly everything. Life goes onnever take a day for granted. She once said to me that no matter how much you love your friends, your family would always be there for you. You have to be your self. Be very honest about who and what you are, and if people still like you then fine. If they dont then thats their problem. Sting You can complain because roses have thorns. Or you can rejoice because thorns have roses. Ziggy If you want a rainbow, you have to supply the rain. Dolly Parton Live life as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever. Mahatma Gandhi Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take yours eyes off your goal Hannah Moore Other things may change us, but we start and end with family. Anthony Brandt Believe that life is worth living and your belief will help create the fact. William James Sarah Rashti December 3, 2001 English Mrs. Gokturk Im writing about my aunt Charlottes pearl necklace that she gave to me when I was very young. This necklace means a lot to me not only because it was my aunts when she was a little girl but it has been passed down from generation to generation, it is very old. I dont wear it that often because of that, just on special occasion. My aunt means a lot to me, she is like the older sister I always wanted but never had though she can also act very motherly on some occasions but dont they all. The best part about her is that she always knows what I am talking about, and she always has the right thing to say. I found a couple of poems and quotes that remind me of her and things that she says. One poem is Ability by Salina E. Martis, I picked this poem because it talks about ability in that everyone has the ability to do anything they want they just have to put there mind to it. My aunt once said to me no matter how hard you try, if you really want something that bad it will always come to you, I always take that one to heart. Another poem that I picked is teenagers are amazing by Jamie Haskins. This poem talks about how sometimes adults mistake teens for miss behaved children. We arent, we are people just like you who are trying to follow their dreams, she never doubts that. She says that there are no failures-just experiences and reactions to them. The two Roads by, Whitney Welch is the next poem I picked. It talks about when you come to a fork in your life, one way is the good and the other is the bad although you dont always know which is which. You should always go by you first instanced because that is the way your heart is leading you- you know where to go. And if you go the wrong way there are usually second chances if you want them bad enough, but you are going to have to make them happen your self. There is a saying if life knocks you down you have two choices-stay down or get up. How much more truthful can you get? 1
