The Paint option, the prize balls- there are a lot of ways to put grey balls into your Maxwell's Maniac game with their red and blue neighbors. And at times, juggling the three colors can become a bit confusing. Here's how the system works.
The Paint option paints balls grey when they're on the correct side. The prize balls are the same basic idea- if you put a prize ball in, you're in effect adding a ball which is on the correct side.
When a grey ball crosses over to the other side during good time, it changes colors. If it was grey on the blue side it becomes red, and vice versa. You score a small bonus for this. However, if it leaks to the other side during bad time, you lose a life.
Sometimes, a ball will change its "home" but not its color- this is why you'll sometimes see red balls "stranded" in the red section in Paint mode. It isn't a problem, though- just get them to the other side so they can become grey.
