They arrived in Calicut, India, in May 1498. Vasco's Voyage lasted over two years and covered 2,000 miles. A while before Da Gama's return to Potugal in 1499, his crew had spent more then 300 days on the open water. Only 60 were left out of 200 men were left at the end of this Expedition. Lots of Da Gama's men died from Scurvy, a disease caused by the lack of fresh fruits and vegetables. |
