Philosophy of Agricultural Education
Classroom instruction, FFA and SAEs are all crucial parts of an agricultural science program. In my opinion, you need all of these aspects to have a successful, well rounded program. I remember how my agricultural science program focused very heavily on FFA, with SAEs following second and classroom instruction sometimes suffered because of the heavy focus on the first two. Sometimes, students who weren’t in FFA or didn’t have SAEs would be excluded, a lot of times by personal choice though. I will strive to never have those situations played out in my classroom. I feel it is the Agricultural Science Teacher’s responsibility not only to find a place for each and every student but to teach in a way that is understandable and focuses on the students’ learning styles. Classroom instruction is the meat of the program in that if there is no instruction, the future of agriculture looks bleak.
