12/13/06 Relay Meet 4x800 Split: 2:48
4x600 Split: 1:57
Two terrible runs. One more wasted meet.
1 Mile: 6:05 1000: 3:35
12/20/06 vs Bartlett: W 51-35
I really haven't felt this good after a meet in about three months.

In the mile, the wonderful officials at Tantasqua, whose only job was to tell us how many laps we had left, stopped doing so with 5 to go, and did not have the "bell" for the bell lap, leaving it completely up to the runners to figure out how much they had left to run. It must be really hard for them to count down from 10 once a week.

Nevertheless, I am satisfied with the race I ran. I stuck to my strategy well and it payed off. I finished with an o.k. time, despite not knowing when the race would end.

In the 1000, I might have went out just a little too hard, otherwise I would have had more of an increase in speed when I picked it up. Still, I set a PR by 6 seconds.

I feel good because I'm confident and I know there is plenty of room for improvement. As usual, I'll be working hard in practice to get those times down to where I want them to be.

For the mile I did not feel very good, but I did the best I could for how well I did feel. My plan was to keep from burning out in the beginning (which caused a 6:08 last week) by runnining at a comfortable place until I hit 10 to go, at which point I would start to pick up speed to reach a pace that would be tough to keep. I would be at this pace before I had 8 to go. from 8 to 4, I would maintain that pace. With 4 to go, I planned to pick it up. With a deuce to go, I'd let myself loose to the finish.

In the 1000, Oxford would have to sweep 1-3 in order to have a chance of beating Northbridge for the meet, meaning that I would have to beat every Northbridge runner. My plan was to conserve the first lap and a half, staying close to where I needed to be, until I hit the 6 to go mark, at which point I would move up to third. I would then battle through 4 laps holding the pace, then with 2 left push it to the finish. I did all of that, except the first 4 runners were about a half a track ahead of me.
