NOW@YOUNG PEOPLE
By Akiko Gendou

I've been conscious of  my generation recently. That  mean I have develped a sense of  responsibility.  I belong to a club in sapporo university.  So I'm a Junior, and we are given some responsibilites. We must work to improve the club activity including for ourselves for everyone. Actually, we lack a consciousness of it. The untidiness of the people on top influences people around them.

I think that our generation are people who firstly think of ourselves and act without thinking about anything. These kinds of people have increased gradually. Therefore those who must have leadership have no leadership abilities, and the club activities suffer. It is so miserable.

Not only in our club.  There are many clubs in Sapporo University, especially from this year. Now statesman are the same way. It's almost funny. It is necessary that we take over the traditions that our seniors created  and teach them to the juniors.

A  Recent Event
By Akiko Gendou

I went and met the Ambassador from England at my school. He was tall and had a charming face and grey hair. My heart beat and I was a little nervous.

He speaks Japanese fluently,so I thought maybe he knows Japanese more than me.  Besides, he had worked  for the United Nations before. (I thought  I am meeting  an awful man in my personal life now!)

He started to talk about economic cooperation between Japan and England, and about what Japanese young people should do now, and about the war in Afghanistan.

I became concerned about my country when he talked. So, after I graduate from Sapporo University next year, I will think about what I can do about social problems. I have no idea now what to do, and I  don't have a clear idea.  Working contributes to helping social problems.
