| Gardnerian is the most popular in Europe. It is very structured and based on the teachings from the Masons, Golden Dawn and oriental mysticism. Coven membership is highly encouraged. Alexandrian, is even more structured than Gardnerian and relies heavily on the Kabbalah, the magick system of the Jews, coven membership is encouraged here as well. You may be interested to know that during my research I discovered that Carl Jung, Thomas Edison, William Butler Yeats, Alfred Lord Tennyson and even Mahatma Gandhi were all involved with this type of Wicca. Dianic wiccans are coven oriented and follow the Gardnerian path, but only allow female members into their covens. They are mostly politically motivated. According to Lady Sabrina, High Priestess and founder of Our Lady of Enchantment Seminary of Wicca, Eclectics are the fastest growing tradition in America today. Eclectic Wiccans incorporate ideas from other traditions to form their own personalized religion. Most eclectics are solitaires, but some belong to covens or attend Wiccan churches. It is my hope that you are now more informed (and less frightened) about Wicca. Remember: Wicca is a religon. They do not believe in or worship the devil, they do not sacrifice animals and they do not cast �evil spells�. It is also my hope that each of you, no matter what your own religious preference, will show tolerance and respect for the religion of others . Acceptance and diversity are what all people should strive for, if they did, we would not experienced what we did on Sept. 11th... I would like to end by reciting the Wiccan Rede, which is the core of the Wiccan religion. |
