Just a few tips before we getting into the rules:
Please be sure to read through all of the rules before applying here at Sapienti University of Magic. This is a role playing site based off of the wonderful Harry Potter books written by J.K. Rowling. We are a college based form of an rpg. This site is run as though Harry Potter and co. do not exist.
This is a PG Rating Site
Now onto the Rules:
THERE ARE FOUR BIG NO-NOs
1.) Harry Potter Character Names
- As stated on the front page of this site as well as at the top of this page, this site is run as though Harry Potter and company do NOT exist. Therefore, none of your characters should have any of these characters names or say that they are in any way related.
2.) Power-playing
- Power-playing is the act of controlling another person's character
3.) God-Modding
- God-Modding is the when your character obtains information that they haven't received through role-playing but through you.
4.) Character Killing
- You are not allowed to kill another person's character unless given permission. If you have permission, be sure to have both parties email the Headmaster to let them know each character is allowing this action to happen.
Other No-Nos
- No excessive Swearing.
This site is PG rating and we would like to keep it that way. We know that people swear, but we would like to keep this at a minimum. If we find that you are using excessive amounts of swear words in your post, we will warn you and ask you to tone it down. If you still haven't done so, we will place you on a temporary ban of the site.
- No sexual content.
We know the characters are Of Age, but we would like to keep this PG, so hinting at sex is fine, full out writing it is not.
- No racial/derogatory/offensive remarks.
No racial/derogatory/offensive remarks are permitted either in your posts or on the OOC board. If we find that you are making these remarks, you will be banned, no exceptions.
- No net speak.
The point of role-playing is to increase your writing abilities. Net speak is a cop-out for writing and not very nice to look at. Your post will be removed if Net speak is a constant. This site asks for detailed posts so as to keep the flow of the thread going. Detailed posts are more interesting to read, allow for others to really get to know your character, and allow for other authors to have something more to work with when replying to your posts. All posts should be at least two paragraphs (roughly ten sentences).
General Rules
1.) All posts should be in the third person past tense.
-INCORRECT:
I went to the library and took out some books.
-CORRECT:
Mark decided to go to the library and ended up taking out a couple of books.
2.) Please write realistically. Telephones, computers, mp2 players, iPods, and other electronics do not work at Sapienti. Your characters are not Superhuman. If they are hit, they bruise. They will make mistakes. Please keep that in mind when writing your posts.
-INCORRECT:
Mark walked out of the dorms with his iPods and was suddenly hit by a bus. Luckily, Mark didn't even have a scratch on him.
-CORRECT:
Mark left his dorm and walked to the Alimento to meet up with friends.
3.) No special powers unless approved by the Headmaster. Special powers include Seer abilities, speaking Parseltongue, Reading minds, and any other abilities that would be rare even in the magical world of HP.
-INCORRECT:
Mark was able to speak to Slimy the snake while being able to predict that Alicia was going to trip.
-CORRECT:
Mark thought that Slimy the snake was cool and helped Alicia up from the ground after she had tripped.
