Appearance: Whenever seen in public, Sophia looks absolutely immaculate- her own ego wouldn�t allow it to be any other way. She is not a classic beauty- in truth, not any sort of beauty; her face is just too plain to warrant that description. If she tried hard enough, she could look passably pretty, but only just. In the past, that has caused her no end of annoyance, but, as the years went on, she learned to accept it as much as she can accept anything not directly in her control. So, while she�s never be incredibly pretty, her ash-blond hair is always neat (generally pulled back in a ponytail or bun to keep it out of her eyes), and her clothing, if a bit plain looking, is practical and suits her well. She�s fairly non-descript otherwise- a bit taller than average, with standard European coloring. She would actually blend into the background fairly well, provided she could just keep her mouth shut. |

Personality: There are few words in the English language that would describe Sophia properly. Cutthroat comes to mind, but it�s a bit too mild to really suit. She decided from an early age that, if she was going to put her energy into any activity, then she was going to be the best at it, no exceptions. Unfortunately, this led both to an attitude of either excelling immediately or quitting and the loss of multiple friends who couldn�t deal with the constant competition. Not that she�s not an entirely pleasant girl to be around whenever there�s no danger of her losing at anything. In fact, she enjoys helping others having trouble in almost anything, though particularly schoolwork; however, whether this is altruism or just her asserting her own superiority is debatable. However, should her status or pride be threatened in any way, the claws come out, and, as she�s an expert at holding grudges, never quite go back in. She�s also a bit of a know it all, or a show-off, depending on the circumstances (i.e., depending on whether she�s good at whatever�s being discussed or not). |

History: Sophia was born in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of a lawyer, Philip, and a math teacher, Miranda, both muggle through and through. An only child, she had a fairly normal life growing up, if one can discount the number of fights she generally got into, mostly because someone was silly enough to insult her (she got along perfectly fine with everyone else). Still, by the time she�d turned eleven, she�d learned to keep her temper under control�mostly. It would be hard to say whom the letter inviting Sophia to Sonora Academy came as a greater shock to- Sophia or her parents. All three very practical people, it took a while for the concept of magic to sink in. Still, once she�d managed to suspend her initial disbelief, Sophia realized that all this simply another competition, and she spent the next seven years attempting (and, in her mind, succeeding) to prove her superiority to an entirely new crowd. |
