Appearance:

Carmine is tall for his age and slender, with large hands and feet and shoulders that look almost too broad for his thin frame; nevertheless, he looks younger than he actually is. He has an awkward air when he moves around indoors, gawky as though he hadnt yet grown into his body, but gains something resembling confidencemaybe more like comfortoutside. His face is long and narrow with a strong bone structure and dark, thick eyebrows that lie relatively straight over his deep-set black eyes. His nose is hawkish and long; his mouth is small and lips thin. His face is generally very difficult to read, but when he smiles its a very open, almost childlike expression. Too bad he doesnt do it more often.
Personality:

Although he can come across as aloof and standoffish, hes just very uncertain and shy; part of it stems from embarrassment about his thick accent which, despite several years of living in first France and then America, he cant seem to shake off. His sense of humor is very dry and offbeat. Even though he's diffident, he feels very intensely about everything, and is prone to falling in love (as it were) and losing himself in fanciful daydreams. His hatred of magic, bred into him by his father's family, has given him a bitter edge of self-loathing that's usually covered up with his naturally pacific and composed nature. When riled, he's a force to be reckoned with.
History:

His mother was an Italian heiress, his father one of the Romani tribes; they separated when he was young and for several years he lived and traveled with his paternal family while his mother hobnobbed around Europe and America. When it became apparent that hed inherited his mothers magical skill, his father reluctantly sent the boy away, as his tribe held magic and the occult as taboo; Carmine was, therefore, home-schooled by his maternal grandfather, and spent no more than a week in his mothers company until he was fifteen, at which point she decided that hed be better off in a boarding school. He was sent to Beauxbatons, where heunsurprisinglydid not fit in very well, not in the least because of the stigma of being a transfer student and Romani in origin. Despite his grandfathers increasing pressure to take his mother! s nameBianchiCarmine resisted and retained his fathers name. Carmine has always had a passion for plants and their properties, and while his grandfather encouraged him to pursue the status of Potions Master, Carmine decided instead that he preferred the dirtier occupation of actually cultivating and growing the plants. He also works reasonably well with magical animals.
