Sapienti is one of the oldest Magical schools in existence within the borders of the United States of America. The school was established in the early 1600s when the first pioneers staked claim to this land. During the time of discovery, two young Purebloods, new to this strange land, thought of an idea that would bring the Magical society together and take a piece of this land for their own.

Drago Accardi and Emilio Renaldi were friends since their time in Italy as young boys. Their families were those well known in their home lands of Italy and wanted to branch out to the unknown lands of America. The elite, prominent Pureblood families came to America to continue amassing their fortunes. Because of this, these families needed a place for their growing children to have a place of study and to not be mingled with the less desirable. This is where Accardi and Renaldi came up with the idea of establishing a University created soley for those of Pureblood standards.

They created the school based on their Italian heritage. Each house represented what they believed to be the best traits a person could have. Accardi, who had a love for birds, desired for each house symbol to be represented by his feathered friends. They chose the birds that would best represent the traits the houses stood. The doors of the school opened in 1660 and flourished within the Pureblood community.

However, over the years, slowly the Purebloods began to dry out and fewer students were accepted into the school. In 1726, Renaldi passed on, leaving Accardi (an old man) to care for the school. Accardi soon passed on the school to his son. After the many decades and the decline of students, the new school Heads decided to open their doors to more than just Purebloods. In 1808, the first Halfblood was welcomed into Sapienti and soon the school flourished once more. Nearly a century later, 1898, the doors were opened once again, only this time, for Muggleborns.

Headmaster Bartholomew Livingston, who has been headmaster for the last ten years, is the first Muggleborn to ever run the school. All students with Magic in their blood are invited to join Sapienti University, the doors will always remain open to all.
