Students are not required to take every class listed in their major every year. The classes listed under Freshman/Sophomore Years should be taken at some point during a student's freshman and sophomore years. They do not need to take the class both years, just once to complete the requirement. This is also true for classes under Junior/Senior Years. Elective classes can be taken at any time in a student's college career and in any class the student wishes to take.
Example: A student majoring in Healing might take Dangerous Potions and two electives their first year. Then, for their sophomore year, they might take Medical Transfiguration I, Theoretical Potions, and another elective their sophomore year. Junior year, they might take Magical Ethics in regards to Muggles, Medical Transfiguration II, and another elective. Senior year would be whatever was left to complete. In this case, it would be Medicinal Potions, Poisonous Potions, and an elective. When the student graduates, they would have taken each class listed plus the five electives necessary to complete the major.
Any combination of the classes may be taken in a given year. A student could have taken all five electives in a single term if they had wanted. This tends to be good for those that don't know what they want to major in. Also, freshmen and sophomores need to obtain professor permission to take a class listed at junior/senior level. Juniors and Seniors may take freshmen/sophomore classes. If there are any questions, feel free to email the University President or post on the OOC board.
