San Antonio Area Information
Currently, the organization is working on an outdoor lighting ordinance with the City of Helotes, in northwest Bexar County, and the City of Greyforest, also in northwest Bexar County. Both cities are open to outdoor lighting ordinances and are accepting them with open arms. But we need help, including your help to make dark skies in and around San Antonio a reality.
Above is a visual representation of the number of stars that can be seen with the unaided eye. The white region in the center is San Antonio, and the smaller region to the top right is Austin. White areas signify that less than 20 stars can be seen in the sky. The black area means that light pollution does not block out any stars and the other colors show different amounts of stars that are visible. Copyright Attila Danko
The best way to show your support for dark skies and effective outdoor lighting is to tell others about light pollution and the negative impacts that it has. If we can work together, we can achieve uncommon results.
