I won customer service person of the year. Yeah! But, that was not the good part. The prize was a 4 day cruise to Nassau. I had never been on a cruise before and boy, was I excited. I decided to take my new boyfriend, Ken, and we drove to Port Canaveral ( our exit port). We had to stop the first night at St Augustine, Fla because the drive was too long!
We got to Port Canaveral and saw our ship - The Sovereign of the Sea. She was beautiful and very big.

Our room was very small, but cute. This is a picture of me getting ready for our lifeboat drill.

As we waited to leave port, we explored the ship. We ended up in one of the bars - dancing the swing dance to canned music (one of my favorite things on the trip). Finally we were off to sea.
We were supposed to go to Coco Cay the first day, then to Nassau - but the weather was so bad that we went to Nassau first (so we actually got 1 1/2 days in Nassau.) This is a photo of us on deck in front of Nassau.

The first day we went shopping and walked around the downtown area.
We had signed up for 2 excursions in Nassau - the first was a tour of the forts there on the island and then a tour of the Pirate museum. The second - a water tour with all the rum punch and dancing one could handle with a quick stop on a small island for more rum punch and swimming or sunbathing.
The second day in Nassau we did our tours. On our first excursion, we got to see two forts that were awesome, but my favorite part was the Queen's staircase. It was carved directly out of the limestone that was used to make the fort and water tower. It was beautiful with a beautiful waterfall and wonderful fauna.

The pirate museum was VERY cheesy, but it was fun.
On the second excursion, we had a great tour of paradise island from the boat, then we turned for open sea to go to our private island party. As I said, there were free drinks and here is a picture of us on the tour boat with the Atlantis Hotel on Paradise Island in the background.
While on the boat tour, we came too close to a private diving boat and the driver of the other boat accidentally ran over her own diver. We turned about and picked them up and administered first aid to the victim until help could be obtained. That cut out the party mood for many of us, and the party cruise was cut short.
The third day we went to Coco Cay, a private island owned by the cruise company. Here I am on the beach with the ship in the background.
We walked and lay in the sun - well, Ken lay on a floating mat in the ocean and got burned REAL bad. I lay in the shade of a palm tree so I could see the water and was right next to the bar. See! don't I look like I'm in heaven!
On ship we kept fairly busy. We walked on the deck, looked out over the water, and watched the sunsets. Here is Ken on deck with the beautiful sky in the background.

We had lots of food and drink. I think I had about 16 pina coladas on the trip and the food was good. We had breakfast and lunch at the buffet, but we had dinner each night in the formal dining room. Each night we sat at the same table and sat with the same group. Here we are on the first night.
Of course after dinner we walked on deck and kissed under the stars. The ship was beautiful at night. The lights were wonderful.

If you have not gone on a cruise, I would go on at least one. We are now saving up to go on a cruise Nov 2006 to Mexico. So come back and check out our pictures in 2006.
