The ethnic Banadiri community is hereby compelled to highlight to the international Community, the human suffering and tragedy we endured for the last 10 years. During which we have written many times the true and sounding reality of our critical situation to the above mentioned international communities and Government.

We don't deny that we share this suffering with the in habitants in Mogadishu and environs needles to mention that only the peace loving groups of the International community responded positively to our numerous writings that encouraged us not to give up the struggle for our human rights. The only period that we have enjoyed peace and stability was during the presence of UNITAF Unisom -1992- 1995 even though we have tried our best to rebuild our destroyed properties and re-arrange our business activities our hope was drowned with departure of UNITAF Unisom.

Since the departure of the Unitaf Unisom we were the peace activities in Somalia reagardless of region or tribe, even though we were never recongnised or rewarded by the warlords who boasted in terms of power and military equipments, but all the Somali peace loving people gave us merit for our efforts in promoting peace between Somali people. Upon hearing that there was and up coming conference in Djibout Arta May 2000. We were delighted that at last the Somali people will reconcile, forget and forgive the past and will subsequently from a government of national unity, which has the support of the Somali majority in all the regions.

It is regrettable to have full evidence that both the government of Djibouti and the UN representative to Somalia, David Stephen were notified and full aware that the Ethnic Banadiri Community were the first to be marginalized and denied to participate the conference with their recognized legitimate name ( Banadir Clan Family ) and were compelled to be part of OTHERS which means people with no particular district or region while the Benadir region is the home of the Benadiri people (Hamar & Hamardaye).

After this, those Benadiri representatives in the conference who refused to accept to be part of OTHERS were either put in prison or expelled from Djibouti.

We do here intend to communicate to all international communities interested in Somali affairs to support the proposal of the majority of Somali political leaders meeting in Addis-Ababa, Ethiopia, sponsored by HE Atto Melez Zenawi, the Prime Minister of the Ethiopian Government.

That is to hold an all inclusive national reconciliation conference hoping that the Benadiri community will have its rightful share within the Somali people. We remind to the participants of the upcoming conference not to repeat the same mistake committed during previous Arta Conference

Your collaboration would be very much appreciated.

Best Regards
