The reports we are getting from Mogadishu are saying that on Thursday 28
June 2001 there were clashes between the government police and militiamen loyal
to Mr Aidid that erupted at the ‘Jidka Marre-haanka’ intersection in south of
Mogadishu. Many people were killed and a lot injured.
These days the number of clashes between the government and militias loyal to the warlords are in the increase. These fighting are jeopardising and putting in a more difficult position and risks to the innocent unarmed citizens, we see this as violations of the human rights of innocent people. We believe that Allah, The Almighty can end the live of the human being or if there is execution but the way these people are dealt is not right.
Most of the time when there is clash between the government and the
militias only innocent people like women, children and the elderly are hurt. If
we take the latest incident as an example most of the injured were innocent
people. For instant, at about midday when the fighting escalated the weapons
used were heavy machine-guns, anti-tanks guns and anti-aircraft artillery and
the fighting was not far from Hamar Weyne area.
Some shells hit building in Hamar Weyne’ Raqeyga area near Afar irdood
police station where many innocent benadiri people were injured specially women
and children.
We are strongly urging all concerned parties to respect the human rights
of all innocent unarmed people.
Thank you.
