Senior Black (Shodan)
I started Karate in 1987 under instruction of Sensei James Vermaak doing Goju-Kai, headed by Shihan Ben du Preez.
He was awed by Sensei James physical ability and technical knowledge and he asked Sensei James to “train him. This he did and I spend many weekends sleeping at his house receiving personalised training at no extra cost. We became very good friends and Sensei James became like a father to me not only teaching me Karate but also giving the advice and help to grow up. With Sensei James’ help I was Able to obtain both provincial and South African colours for Karate.
