November 7th, 2007: New Story

I started work on a new story, The Emissary, just to get myself back into writing and to increase my already overloaded list of things to do instead of schoolwork. It is a semi-sci-fi (ha, I don't even know what that means) narrative that finds the main character in the strange situation of being told to do something through unwanted thoughts in his own mind. I plan on keeping it short, so there is no real reason why I shouldn't complete it soon and get started on writing something more..well, let's say serious. Aside from that, I have been thinking about making significant changes to the Sanctuary, including getting rid of whole sections that seem to be awkward for this type of website and adding others that would be more productive for myself and any lost soul who finds their way here. If you have any suggestions, about the site, how I should or shouldn't write, or the best way to prepare a bowl of cereal, just send me an email.

October 27th, 2007: Hellgate Halloween

I was recently coaxed into buying for the third time the classic hack-and-slash masterpiece Diablo II. Back in the day, this game consumed my gaming life, and even with its dated visuals, I can easily say that there has not been a game that can come close to matching the addictive quality of gameplay that it delivers. I would honestly consider my games collection to be incomplete without a copy of this on disk, so I had no qualms about forking over $40 for the battlechest set.

This Halloween, what is being called the spiritual sequel to DII is being released. Hellgate: London is supposedly going to have the same loot system, and hence casino-like playablity that DII perfected, but with the obligatory upgrade in graphics and MMORPG inspired extra features. Unfortunately (or fortunately, if you look at it from a social perspective) for me, my computer has all of the minimum system specs except for RAM, so I do not think I will be a part of the HG community at launch. This also happens to be Halloween, but I think a reminiscient play-through of Hellgate's predecessor will be much more enjoyable than dealing with a whole new community, possible early game glitches, and the headache of upgrading my computer on short notice on a tight budget.

However, I will be looking forward to seeing how well the game is recieved by the gaming public, and will probably be picking it up by the end of the year.
