| WAP settings for Pocket IE | ||||
| Pocket IE is capable of browsing internet as well as wap pages. However, how to configure the connection settings to allow the PIE to choose right connection to dial is not clearly explained anywhere. Most often, the connection works well for GPRS but does not work well over Activesync. After many tries, I have arrved at a fairly acceptable configuration. (I use my ISP settings for illustration) Go to Start -> Settings -> Connections Tap "Connections" Tap "Advanced" Under "Programs that automatically connect to the internet hould connect using:" selection box, select (or create) "My ISP" and tap "Edit" Tap "New" Name: MNET Connection Modem: Cellular Line (GPRS) Tap "Next" Access Point Name: mnet Tap "Next" User name: mnet Password: mnet Tap "Finish" Under "Programs that automatically connect to a private network should connect using:" selection box, select (or create) "My Work Network" and tap "Edit" Tap "New" Name: EWAP Connection Modem: Cellular Line (GPRS) Tap "Next" Access Point Name: ewap Tap "Next" User name: ewap Password: ewap Tap "Finish" Tap "Proxy Settings" tab Check "This network connects to the Internet" Check "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet" Tap "Advanced" HTTP: Leave blank (or use your corporate/ISP proxy address and port) WAP: 10.12.0.32 Port 9201 Secure WAP: Leave blank Socks: Leave blank (or use your corporate/ISP proxy address and port) Important: For the Pocket IE to identify and dial right connection, all the wap addresses must be in the form of "wsp://<web address> Note: WAP sites may not be accessed while device is connected to the Internet via Activesync, if WAP gateway and the Internet gateway of your ISP are different. |
