Originally Inuyasha started off as a manga (Japanese comic book) but then was converted into a TV series in 2000. Since then it has become one of the most watched TV anime in Japan, with a whopping 18% of the population watching.
The main story of Inuyasha goes something like this (without spoiling the show): The story is based in feudal Japan, when demons and ghost roamed the land. Enter Inuyasha (the main character), a half-human, half dog demon, bad tempered individual. He desperately seeks a way to become a full demon and rid himself of his week human side. But through that path he becomes sealed for 50 years by Kikyo, the guardian of the "Shikon no Tama" a magical jewel that has the power to turn Inuyasha into a full demon.
Enter Kagoma. A high school student and reborn soul of Kikyo. She stumbles into a well that has the power to travel back to Inuyasha's time, and from there the first episode starts. So you will have to watch it to find out what happens and more of the story in detail.
Well thats just a small bit of the story line for Inuyasha. I hope that it got you interested in watching the anime. It is my favourite anime so far. If you are an anime fan i strongly suggest that you get your hands on some of the episodes.
