Kaalachakra/Ashtadala padma
Kaalachakra or Ashtadala Padma
Kaalachakra or Ashtadala padma is one of the important tools to in vedic astrology to indicate the quality of time. Kaala means time and chakra means wheel. This wheel has eight spokes. Each of the spoke point to the four directions and the in betweens. The Top is East and in clock wise direction its South-East, South, South West, etc. The image indicates various items ruled by each spoke. The spokes also have 3 circular rims which intersect 28 times to give 28 nakshatra's spread in all the spokes. The eight spokes are eight petals of lotus and hence called ashta(8)dala(petal) padma(lotus).

Uses:
The Kaalachakra is used in computation of
Raahu/Gullika kaalam etc. To find the Arudha for prashna, find the naxatra on spokes etc.
