The tree was full of beauty
Beckoning to them, "Come."
A voice so wise and helpful
Said they would be like God.

When they yielded their control
A bitter deal was made.
And they knew that when they fell
There in their hearts sin stayed.

The day had quickly turned to night:
The sky to dismal gray
When the sin of all the world
Was on a cross portrayed.

But then upon the third day,
The gray was washed away.
The whole world knew when Jesus rose-
There in the tomb sin stayed.

When I knelt before Him-
Weak and beaten by sin-
The darkness that had filled me
Was driven from within.

I can not explain just how
My own sin debt was paid.
All I know is when I stood,
At the altar the sin stayed.

When at last the time has come
For Jesus to appear,
He will take away His bride
And one thing will be clear:

Never more will sin be found
To taunt man night and day.
With Satan and his minions
In hell's flames sin will stay.
