EDTC/560 Applications of Multimedia and Web page design
This interactive and dynamic course examines the different elements of
multimedia, including Microsoft PowerPoint and Web page design. Projects
include the creation of a PowerPoint Presentation and a personal Web page.
This course has provided powerful information and an adept instructor/facilitator.
Thanks, Tommy.
EDTC/510 Foundations of Distance Education and Training
This introductory course provides a warm welcome to the world of distance
education, adult learning, and the protocol of the online learning
environment. Foundations focuses on the principles of distance education
as a medium for course, degree, or training-based instruction.
This course was extremely helpful in becoming comfortable with online learning
and understanding what qualities constitute a successful online learner.
EDD/511 Adult Learning: Theories, Principles, and Applications
Welcome to the world of Andragogy and discover how similar and different
this adult learning theory is from Pedagogy,or how children learn. Piaget,
Bruner, Maslowe, Rogers, and Malcolm Knowles become familiar names along with
constructivism, humanism, and behaviorism. You will also discover that learning
is effective when it can be related to past experiences and learn how to apply
effective strategies for adult learners. Emphasis is placed on teaching and
learning models, strategies, and effective practices in distance education.
EDTC/550 Information Technology
The Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) provides a technical and effective
guideline for the development of distance learning training and courses.
The components of Information Technology are presented, focusing on hardware,
software, operating systems, databases, networking, telecommunications,
and the Internet. These basics provide valuable information on which to
build e-education application courses.
CUR/524 Instructional Design
Once a need is determined and a feasibility study promotes the implementation of online
training, instructional designers employ adult learning theory and related teaching
strategies and activities in course design to fulfill the need.Specific focus is given
to the creation of materials appropriate for adult learners in classrooms and learning
at a distance. This course provided an invaluable learning experience in the design,
development, implementaton, and assessment/evaluation of instruction in both synchronous,
synchronous, and face-to-face learning environments.
EDTC/526 Assessment and Evaluation in E-Eduction
The role of assessment in education encompasses a wide range of traditional and alternative
strategies in both online and face-to-face courses. This course focuses on developing the
skills necessary to become effective assessors of adult learners, including interpretation
of testing data, tracking student progress, and issues facing distance education programs.
The focus on formative, summative, and alternative methods of assessment is extremely
beneficial for educators and provides solutions to the divesity of learning styles and
needs of adult learners.
QNT/540 Research and Ethics in E-Education
The fundamentals of Research and Ethical issues of information and intellectual property,
privacy issues in a digital environment and the relationship of individual, government,
and societal concerns in the electronic community are addressed.
Course content provided important information and research applications in the analysis
and interpretation of data. Accurate interpretation of data is beneficial in both the
creation and modification of course design.
EDTC/555 Internet and Distance Education Delivery
This course compares and contrasts different education delivery systems and explores
asynchronous and synchronous delivery systems. Compliance to Industry Standards is
also highlighted.
An indepth study of WebCT, Blackboard, Docent, and Saba provided a better understanding
of the features, pricing structure, and implementation of courseware management systems.
EDTC/570 Courseware Authoring
This course compares and contrasts different approaches to courseware authoring.
Emphasis is placed upon the design and development of Web delivered courseware.
EDTC/575 E-Education in the Global Envirnoment
This course focuses on the business of distance education form a global perspective.
Educational systems, cultural differences, and curricula of various global environments
are explored.
EDTC/590 E-Education Capstone
The final course in the E-Education program synthesizes and integrates theories
and practices learned form all courses in the program and applies them toward
the development of a culminating design project.
