Manchester, UK (Nov)
Pop Music
It's definitely Westlife cos they're one of my favourite boy groups. Their new album "Coast to Coast" was just released this Tuesday (7th Nov) in the UK, competing with Spice Girls' "Forever" for the No.1 in the UK Chart.
Shopping
There's
only one month and a half to go before X'mas
and most shops
have started to introduce X'mas cards, gifts and clothing (party
dress). Some small-scaled sale is going on in some shops (around
20% off).
Clothing
As it's getting colder, scarves, hats, gloves, overcoats and other wintry clothes can be found everywhere. But you can also find some strong men (girls and women like wearing beautiful wintry clothes!), whom I will call "supermen" cos they just wear a short-sleeve T-shirt without shivering under 10 degree celcius. Jeans jackets are most girls' favourite here.
Soccer
Two people must be very happy and have received lots of congratulations.
The first one is David Beckham, whose new autobiography "My World" with a red cover has been the best seller in the UK. And, what made him even more excited and happier is of course he was appointed as the skipper of the friendly against Italy, leading a group of promising potential younger England football players. The second one, without doubt, is Sven Goran Eriksson, the new and first-time ever foreign England coach who will take charge of the national team from July 2001 after his contract with Italian Serie A favourites Lazio ends. There's been controversies about the FA's decision - Should they appoint a local or foreign guy as the new England coach? And, there's a lot of concern about the future of the England National Team.
England football teams Arsenal, Manchester United, Leeds and Liverpool must be also very happy that they've gone through to the next stage of European competitions.
Weather
I don't think I have to say much about this, as you all know from the news report that there's serious flooding and never-ending downpours. Transport like railway is affected. More rain is expected before X'mas...
2001 Calenders
Of course it's soon the end of 2000. Wanna have something stuck onto your wall? What about soccer stars like Owen and Beckham's calendars? Britney Spears'?
News
Failure in the management of the Millennium Dome, trials about mad cow disease, petition on the reduction of petrol prices...
Adverts
As X'mas is coming, it's not difficult to understand why there're so many adverts about travel packages and tours to places like "Down Under", i.e. Australia. Others are about mobiles and bank mortgages (I guess it's the same elsewhere all over the world, right?)
