Recommended restaurant (an exclusive report by Sandy)

Date: 21st June, 2003 (Sat)

Time: 12:45 p.m. - 3p.m.

Restaurant: Troika (Elgin Street, Central, HK)

People: Sandy and her colleagues (six people)

Menu: Set lunch with choices

Comments: It was the first time I came to this restaurant.  Thanks to my friend who introduced me to it.  Outside you won't find anything special. But when you enter the restaurant, you feel like you're in a palace.  You'll feel more like king or queen, prince or princess (as if it were your own palace!) when you get seated as according to my friend, usually there are very few people at lunchtime.  When we arrived, there were only six of six.  Since there were only us, we could sit until 3p.m., which is good if you want to find a comfortable place to sit back and have a chat with friends.

There was a set lunch. You could choose to have starter, soup, the main course and the dessert or only three of them; and for each item you can have two choices. Our serving waitress was a Russian, I guess. It hadn't been long before we were served.

First came the soup. I chose pumpkin soup while some of us tried the Russian Borshch. The taste was good. I'd give 8 marks out of 10. It was neither too thick nor too watery. And I liked the cream put on top of the soup.

Next was the starter.  It was a salad... the details I don't remember (sorry!) it looked nice and the vegetables were fresh. Also 8 marks out of 10.

Then the main course came out. I chose the rice with salmon in the centre.  It looked very nice in the photo, right? The taste was in fact also good. Its sauce made it more delicious and the pastry was crisp. Plus its side dish which included my favourite potato and broccoli. I'd give it 8 marks out of 10.

The dessert was something liquid, tasted between icecream and yogurt. 7 marks out of 10.

A cup of tea was served in the end of our lunch.

Overall: Food - 8 marks out of 10

             Service - 8 out of 10

             Environment - 8 out of 10
