A Note About Placards & a Tribute to Nafi
The Placard

Maybe it's just me, but I got a rush when I saw my name held up on an placard for the first time.  I suddenly felt famous.  I felt like signing autographs.  The one with the placard was ET driver, Nafi.  I don't know if he is still with ET or not, but he was the very first contact I ever had with Turkey.  The first Turk I ever spoke to.  Well, gestured to.  Seeing as how the only words I knew that he would also know was "Ataturk" our conversation was pretty limited.

Here's to you Nafi... If we ever meet again, I will finally be able to thank you in Turkish.  We can share a bottle of raki and have a good laugh.  And what the hey, bring the placard.  It would be fun to hold it up at various intervals throughout the evening.
