These are pictures taken from various times that I was there. Usually the first thing I do is hike straight up the hill to the monestary vantage point. I have a picnic lunch packed with me - eating out on the Island can be expensive, as can buying picnic stuff there. |

The Island does not offer a whole lot of places to stay - this is one place that is cheap. It's the pensiyon, on the road that you would take to get to the picnic area. I've never been in it, but it has usually been fairly packed when I've gone by. |

Boats down a side street (right), view of a soccer field (above), and my favourite staircase below. Everyone needs a favourite staircase. Cold marble. I've often wanted to run up it barefoot but someone is always there tending the garden. Horse-drawn buggies - the mode of transportation - bottom left. |

When you come to this landmark home, you can't miss it - the giant white house, there is a fork in the road. The road to the right will lead you down the main tourist drag and will eventually get you to the picnic area at the tip of the peninsula. Or, if you veer left, you will walk straight up a hill, at the top of which you will be able to look down on the peninsula, as in the top picture to the left. You can also see the monestary |
