KADIKOY |

Kadikoy - I had to add another page because there is a lot more to it than I have shown. When I was at ET, teachers who spent any time there all developed a preference for it. As did I. I loved getting off at the ferry stop, wandering through the little gardens where there was some kind of bird-cage makers guild. There were also many places to stop and have a tea, buy some flowers, and prepare yourself to play 'Frogger' to get across the busy street that separated the rest of Kadikoy from the ferry-area. You'll see what I mean. |

This is where the bird-cage guild is set up - but it must be seasonal because I don't see any in this picture. This is right where the ferry lets you off. |

See what I mean by having to play Frogger in order to cross this street? That was never my favourite part of the journey - but I always made it in one piece. |

Many of the side streets in Kadikoy are these cobble-stone pedestrian walkways leading to great little restaurants and cafes. |

There is a tramway now in Kadikoy - there wasn't when I was there. It looks as though it goes up the main drag - Altinyol (Gold Street). That's an English bookstore below - Penguen books, and I've been there a number of times , and in that internet. Buying new books is expensive. I didn't have access to eBay before, so I'm wondering if eBay is a better option financially... |

Below - the Bull of Kadikoy. The ET branch is not far from here, if I remember correctly. And the Bull is always a good place to meet someone - because anyone can find it. If you don't meet at the ferries, you might as well come here! Tonnes of great little shops, movie theatres, etc. |
