Ayvalik Vacation
Ayvalik was one of the first places I went to and stayed all by myself in Turkey.  On the Aegean coast of Turkey, it was quaint.  I enjoyed getting there.  I took the bus from IStanbul, which involved going on a ferry as well; this I especially liked.  I had intended on going to see the war monuments and battlegrounds of Gallipoli.  Until I remembered that I was completely uninterested in war monuments and battlegrounds.  I thus kept right on until I got to Ayvalik.  I stayed here two days and met some interesting people. Warm people, nice beaches.  It was enjoyable.
View of downtown Ayvalik from the hill where the pensiyon was.  Don't let the bus driver tell you he won't stop in Ayvalik - they do - they just need to be reminded.
Right at the docks in Ayvalik, choppy water here, but most of the time it was calm.  Here you can get the ferry to one of the many Greek islands in the vicinity.
The beach, Sarimsaklar, at Ayvalik.  Had to ride the dolmus to get there.  Nice water, nice sand, forgot to bring a waterproof fannypack...  To the bottom left is a shot of the pensiyon I stayed in.  No problems but for the obnoxious Aussies staying in the rooms below mine.
