Hi, my name is Melanie LoPresti. I'm 28, and have Moebius. I was diagnosed with it when I was 3 months old. I live in Hollywood, Florida, where I was born and raised. I work at the library as a clerk full-time, and I love it. I first had major eye surgery when I was 6 to help straighten out my eyes. Then, practically 20 years later, the eyes were back inward. So last December, 4 days BEFORE Christmas, I had my left eye operated on, and now it looks great! It's actually in the middle! The surgery looks so successful that in April, I will have the right eye done, and I'm very excited about that. My parents and I have been practically fighting our health insurance for 3 YEARS just to get the procedure done.
Besides the eyes, I have facial paralysis, which affects my speech a lot. I have been able to attend the first three conferences and am very looking forward to going to the 4th one in Boston in July. My email address is [email protected]. |
