Here you will find all the reference pics off my harddrive. Please note I've gathered these from accross the 'Net, and they are here purely for artistic reference (and staring at until you drool and short out your keyboard). I've also added a note or two to each, pointing out things of artistic interest. There are more than a dozen pics here, so if you're on a 28K connection like me, go play Minesweeper or something. Trust me. You'll be waiting on the loadup for a long time!
Average picture. Good for referencing a 'pin-up' pose, but a little small for anything else.
Meh, too dark to show details.
What's to say? It's Clank, with his legs retracted.
An actual screenshot. Two things to note: one, the OmniWrench's handle is on the angular side of the head; the other side is smooth and has a hard-to-see-in-this-pic ridge. Two, Ratchet's ears are not, as Insomniac tends to draw in their concept art, perfectly straight. A ruler and compass will not help you. I dunno why they draw that way.
Another screenshot, this time from the side. Note the tiny outer claw on Ratchet's foot. That ridge on the wrench I mentioned above is more visible this time.
'Tis the Going Commando rendering I used to draw that "New Suit" comic-pic. Also shows Clank and a rather large gun (perhaps the new sniping rifle?) quite well. The gradient background was stolen for my "Mystery Girl and Robo-Kitty" picture, too.
Good perspective example. Also shows the Blargian Commander-dude nicely.
Perhaps one of the more sought-after reference pics (I actually had a request for this one), this is the "final concept art" from the Sketchbook aquired in the Goodies menu. However, while very good for lineart and marking reference, it does not give a good size relation. Clank isn't quite THAT BIG. Ratchet also seems to be suffering from the "compass drawing" syndrome; it looks as if all his joints (and his ears) were drawn, not using the traditional, freehanded "T" sectioning, but with a far-too-curvy compass. Oh, and the harness is slightly different; it has two silver studs near the triangle, not one as pictured here. Obviously, the final concept wasn't so "final" after all!
This pic and the next four (up to the last GC armor concept, which is the metal one) all came from one guy's website (which I forget at the moment). He was kind enough to screencapture all the armor concepts in the trailer that my old-as-the-hills computer refuses to play I saved them all to my harddrive (so as not to eat up his bandwidth), then cropped them in PSP7 (so as not to eat up my bandwidth). Anyway, very clear pic, even though the stripes on his ears don't quite fade like normal.
Second armor concept. Not much else to say.
Third armor. Yes, I know it seems that two and three are out of order, but that's how they were on his page, so there. Anyway, why would they put the blue-green suit minus shoulder guards after the blue suit with shoulder guards? Oh, well...
This one looks suspiciously samurai to me. Like a sci-fi samurai...
Last of the armors, and definately the least popular among the fuzztakus. I mean, it covers every inch of fur! Not too sure why his tail fluff had to have that extra bulge there...unless he's got femme 'don't-muss-my-hair'-ness going on... Wonder what it sounds like behind those metal earpieces?
