Something about Sandy
Eleven years ago, when I was only a primary five student in Kei Wing Primary School, I met Miss Mak, who was the first teacher that inspired me and made me think of being a teacher. Miss Mak is so inspiring because of her affection in education and her effective teaching methods. Apart from academic results, she also concerned herself about ourselves all the time. At that time, I told myself, "If I were a teacher one day, I should teach and love students like Miss Mak does." This thought, however, was just an if and then proposition. The proposition changed to become a desire when I met Mr. S.North, an expatriate English teacher, when I was a secondary two student in Queen Elizabeth School. His communicative and interactive ways of teaching is totally different from other teachers. He taught us knowledge from books as well as knowledge in the world. I thought I have learnt the most from him than from any other teachers I have met even untill now. From that time onwards, I was extremely interested in English and decided to be an English teacher. Needless to say, when there were good teachers, there were also poor teachers. They were poor in the sense that they cannot even present themselves well. I really think that no matter how much knowledge one has acquired, he or she must, at least, learn how to present it in an effective and systematic way. Otherwise, no student can acquire knowledge from this kind of teacher. Those teachers, however, have reminded me not to teach in their ways, as those ways are totally unworkable. All these thoughts prepared me to take English as a major degree course and later Postgraduate Diploma of Education in the Chinese University of Hong Kong. At the end of my degree course, I also made a very important decision, that is, to choose the primary section instead of the secondary section of the Education Diploma. The decision was a very hard one, and when I had made it, many friends and relatives were quite disappointed and said many many times that I had a wrong choice. Seeing the importance of a person's foundation in English, I thought I should choose to be a primary school teacher. There is also another reason for choosing the primary section, but this reason, I think, may be too religious for you, so I will not state it here. If you are interested about that, you may ask me some time.
It seems that I have talked about my dream too much, you should have been very dull, aren't you? Let me talk about my interests. I like sports. The reason for starting to play sports is that I used to be a very weak girl, so I wanted to make myself healthier by playing sports. However, when I played sports more, I became addicted to it. Among those sports, I especially like playing volleyball, badminton, cycling and swimming. Apart from sports, I also like cooking, singing, listening to music, reading novels, watching movies, cartoons and TV series, and collecting cartoons' products, especially Snoopy's products, as Snoopy and his friends are my favorite cartoon and comic book characters.
Having seen an introduction about myself, you should have known me more...? NOT YET? Well, you may take a look at "Sandy on Sany" to know more about me!
