Hello, As you all know, development of Meal-Master has been at a "stand-still" for a long time. My efforts to develop a Windows95/98/NT version have had way too much competition from other things in my life, and it is nowhere close to completion. After a lot of consideration, I've decided it is time to "move on". Effective today, I've made the following decisions and changes: 1). Development of a Windows95/98/NT version is on indefinite "hold." I may or may not ever have time to return to this effort, and if/when I do, it may be a year or many years from now. Programming is an enjoyable endeavor for me, so it is likely that I will "be back" at some time... but it may be at a time when "Meal-Master for Windows" is no longer needed or viable in the market. 2). I am no longer accepting registrations for the DOS version of Meal-Master. I will continue to provide technical support existing customers via Email, and will continue to entertain small changes/fixes to the DOS program. Registration, including disks and manuals, is no longer available. 3). I am releasing a version 8.06 of Meal-Master, which is essentially the Registered 8.05 version converted to "Freeware". The registration requirement has been removed, and all program features previously available with registration are now available without registration. 4). My web pages have been updated with the new 8.06 version, and with new information regarding the switch from Shareware to Freeware. Compuserve libraries have also been updated. Hopefully, in time, the new version will "spread out" to the multitude of other locations. Item #3 was the toughest, because I am aware it may upset some people who have previously paid for MM to now see it (except for the printed manual) given away for free. But I felt everyone -- including those who have paid for MM -- would be better served by making MM freeware than just discontinuing it altogether. If the Freeware status means more people use the program, then that will mean more recipes available for us all, right? Further, I have certainly not abandoned those who paid: they still have their product, and I am still here to provide technical support as always. Please take a look at the 8.06 version, and the web site changes. Let me know if you have any questions, concerns, or problems with it. As always, I thank you all for your help and friendship. --- Scott Welliver --- Episoft Systems --- http://home1.gte.net/welliver
