Chateau de Crussol:
Ruins of Ch�teau de Crussol St. P�ray in the Rh�ne Valley, Ard�che, France -------------------------------------------------------------------- Classified Historic building since 1927, the ruins of the fortress of Crussol occupy the top of a piton of rocks limestones to 360 meters of altitude (1181 feet). Dominating the Rh�ne Valley and the plain of Valence, a cliff of 250 meters (820 feet) ensures it a natural protection. The construction of the castle begins in 12th century, under the reign of a lord named Gerald Bastet. The whole of the ruins extends on 3 hectares, including the village (the Villette), that is to say a hundred houses sheltered behind a first rampart and the castle itself. Property of the family of Uz�s, the lord residence will cease being inhabited in 15th century At the time of the wars of religion, the site finds its military utility: Invested by the Protestants in 1573, it will be consolidated and fortifications refitted. The Catholics will come however to end and it will be finally destroyed at the 17th century. Work of restoration has been undertaken for a few years and the visit makes it possible to discover a fabulous medieval unit. The Rh�ne Valley in France is one of the main route linking Northern and southern Europe. Whether you're on the road or in train you can't miss this particular outine of Ch�teau of Crussol at the West side of the Rh�ne near Valence area. Some say it is visible fom 40 towns around.

Saint Apollinaire s Cathedral
place des Clercs, Valence, France 26000 Description: Located in the heart of Old Town, this Romanesque cathedral, rebuilt in the 17th century, is the focal point of the city. Unique to Rhone architecture, the chapels radiate from the ambulatory. The southern portal features the original carved tympanum depicting Christ administering the Benediction. Roman lintels portray Christ multiplying the loaves of bread.
Saint Jean
