Synopsis
When the play opens, Katherine “Kat” and Doug are in bed together at his home. Katherine says she must go, but Doug entices her to stay a little longer. Next, the action moves to the Wright home where Lou confronts Katherine about not wearing her wedding ring. He tells her that Nancy and Hal have broken up. In the next few mini-scenes Katherine distances herself from Doug, telling him she doesn’t have time to be with him. Doug becomes desperate and takes measures to keep her from slipping away from him, including posing as one of Lou’s patients. Nancy sees Katherine for the first time after Hal left her. During the ensuing drinking session, Nancy tells Katherine she once suspected Katherine was having an affair with her husband, Hal. Finally, Katherine decides to break off her relationship with Doug and rekindle her marriage. Doug, however, is not ready to let go. |
