TEN random things you might not know about me.
1. I was born in Washington, D.C. in the same hospital to which they took Reagan when he was shot, except I was there many years before him.
2. I have a half-brother and half sister. I met the half-sister once, when we were both under the age of five.
3. I can roller skate. I have two bars, which are the awards we would win when we passed certain roller skating tests as kids. It means nothing now, but at one time I could do the tango on roller skates.
4. My Masters thesis was about a tiny mayfly called Ameletus tarteri. I studied it near Richwood, WV. My boys think its gross (and thus fun) when I tell them that I used to cut the immature mayfly open to see what it eats.
5. Ive stood on the Continental Divide in Colorado.
6. I drive a car with a standard transmission because I like it better than an automatic transmission. Its more fun.
7. My grandmothers grandmother was named Mary. She was a Cherokee Indian, and her husband, whose name was Fitzpatrick, was Irish.
8. My grandfathers father lived to be almost 100. He died when he was struck by a car. His name was Thomas Reed, and if J hadnt gotten the middle name that he did, he would have Reed as a middle name.
9. I can take five tiny sticks and some yarn almost as thin as string and make a pair of gloves or a pair of socks. And every time I do it, Im amazed.
10. I really like to go to see movies by myself. I great afternoon for me would be to go lunch and then a movie, all by myself (although Id take my husband if he were around).
NINE places Ive visited
1. Lisbon, Portugal
2. San Francisco, California
3. Niagara Falls, Canada
4. El Paso, Texas
5. Denver, Colorado
6. New Orleans, Louisiana
7. Seabrook Island, South Carolina (honeymoon)
8. Stowe, Vermont
9. Cabo De Roca, Portugal (the most Western point in Europe)
