| Below we see what I rate as the second coolest of the PVC Acts so far, comprised only of U.S. G1 TV and Movie characters. Ultra Magnus (note he's in his pre-G1 diaclone color scheme), Hot Rod with the Matrix of Leadership, Optimus Prime using his comlink, Arcee with Daniel, Thundercracker, and Megatron with Laserbeak. |
| PVC figures coming to US shores?? (03/31/02) Ok RID fans looks like we might be going back to our Generation 1 roots. Reports have popped up that the computers at Toys R Us list 2 inch figures to be released soon. That probably means our little Japanese friends, the PVC's seen here. Sold in series called Act's in Japan, six Act's have been released so far with one more soon to be released. Sorry I don't have Act 1 or 2 pictures available at this time. I haven't followed these PVC's too closely since they have only been available as imports in randomized boxes. You didn't know what you were going to get when you bought a box. This left open the surprise factor for mystery chase figures. I believe the chase figures include Ghost Starscream, Skywarp, Metroplex, Galvatron and Fortress Maximus to name a few. Also there were variants of either clear or pewter colored figures depending on which Act it was. I figure that Hasbro will do a few things to make the line more attractive to US buyers, eliminate the variant colors, pack the figures in visible bubble cards, and stick to G1 TV and Movie characters. When I got my first and only import PVC it ws Ultra Magnus in Pewter. I have mixed feelings about this figure, it looks cool and all but I would have prefered one with a US color scheme. Act 6 on the right here is by far my favorite, all G1 characters with a good 50/50 mix of heroes and villians. Prime, Hot Rod, and Soundwave all in one set... now that's cool.
