I will update this page time to time with new Computer related problems and their solutions.
For the time being let give some tips to format your hard disk:-
WARNING: DO NOT TRY THIS OUT FOR FUN. FORMATTING THE HARD DISK IS THE LAST STEP TO RECOVER WHEN YOUR SYSTEM FILES GET CORRUPT. TRY INSTALLING WINDOWS ONCE AGAIN, BEFORE ACTUALLY FORMATTING THE DISK.

First of all boot your machine with a bootable floppy, so that when the computer boots you will get the black Dos screen and the prompt A:\> |

Type the command - format c: /s |
|
|
Press y after you get the Warning that all data will be lost |
|
|
That's it, the Hard Disk is now formatted. |
Install Windows98:-
|
|
Insert your Windows98 CD in the CD ROM. |
|
|
Run Setup. |
|
|
The stepwise installation wizard starts and Windows 98 is installed onto your machine. |
|
|
Make sure to note down the Key, usually given in a file named cdkey.txt, because you will be asked for the key after the installation process. |
Configuring Outlook Express/ Ms-Outlook:-
Outlook Express/ Ms-Outlook is a program given in Ms-Office which is a simple software to check your emails, give designs to your mails ................. But before one can use these facilities one has to configure it properly. Here are a few steps to do it.

First you have to get an email account which has the POP facility. This facility is there in all good email providers like Yahoo but they are paid services, so one has to search for free email providers who support POP services. One of them is http://softhome.net . |

Once you sign up you will get to know about the incoming and outgoing servers. Keep a note about them. |
|
|
Now go to the Outlook Express, go to Tools menu---Accounts-----Add-----Mail. |
|
|
A wizard box opens up which guides you step by step to setup your account. |
|
|
Provide the POP3 servers when asked. |
|
|
Provide your password-----------click Finish. |
|
|
That's it you have made it. |
|
|
Now when you have to check your mails, after logging on to internet, just go to Outlook and click the Send/Receive tab. |

|
Click on the New Tab to Compose a new mail. One of its Great advantage is you can type the mail offline (so that you are saving your phone bill and Internet account) . After typing the mail (or mails) click Send. Your mails would be listed in the Outbox. Then just connect to the net and click Send/Receive. All your mails will be delivered in a time that will satisfy you.( may be in some seconds). |
