Here's the happy ending story of Harley:
Hi TLC, We got Harley the Boxer from you in January '06 as a companion for my disabled Son; for my wife when I am not at home; and for me, when I am at home. What a joy She is and what a great breed Boxers are! Thanks for doing what you do to bring love to the lives of God's creatures both human and of the animal kingdom. I could not help but try to express our feelings in the little poem below. Thanks, Glenn Pondenis My Boxer My Friend A worried look and a wrinkled brow Fearing that I might forget somehow To reach for her with an open hand Fill her dish with her favorite brand Or put cool, fresh water in her pan. Not a chance my floppy-eared Boxer friend. For soon there are chores together well tend. Well walk through the woods to the edge of the stream Where Ill sit on a stump and take time to dream. And Ill admire her there, her form, her grace Chasing after squirrels like she owns the place. Sniffing and snorting, searching all around, In her frustration, pawing at the ground Eventually shell give up the chase. I'll try not to laugh at her funny face. Only God could make two ears so soft, a coat so fine And give her two big round eyes for her love to shine. Only God could make a dog so smart And give her such a loyal heart. She doesn't ask for much, a place to lay, a bite to eat I see the worship in her eyes when she curls 'round my feet. A bundle of friendship lying there When Im worn out -- in my easy chair When the day is done and shadows are long, When the whole darned world seems to have gone wrong, And I start to feel like I dont belong, With loving eyes and a lick of my hand, She lets me knowshe understands. Oh, that worried look, that wrinkled brow Fearing that I forgot somehow- How could I not drag myself up again? Come along with me my faithful friend. I'll fill your dish with your favorite brand And put cool, fresh water in your pan. ----Glenn Pondenis ![]() ![]() ![]() |
