Margaret O'Donnell ( Margo ) was born on 6th. February 1951, in Kincasslagh, County Donegal, Ireland. A fan of Patsy Cline, she began her musical career in 1964 while at school. Becoming a member of a local band called the Keynotes. Her first taste of success was with her recordings of 'Bonny Irish Boy ' and ' Road By The River ' in 1968 which led to appearances on major TV shows. In the early 70's she formed her own band, Country Folk. Topped the Irish charts with an old Irish ballad, ' I'll Forgive And I'll Try To Forget '. Also had a very successful appearance at the wembley Festival in 1972. Margo was the victim of a road accident in the mid 70's, which saw her hospitalized for months, and inactive for over a year. In 1976 she fronted the Country Blues Boys, toured extensively, and enjoyed a major duet hit, ' Hello Mr. Peters ' with Larry Cunningham. Since that time she has continued to entertain audiences, in Ireland, Uk, U.S.A. and Australia. Her major achievements include appearances at Carnegie Hall, New York, and London's Royal Albert Hall. Plus her own series on RTE Televison. In 1983, Margo's younger brother Daniel, joined her band and gained some experience before launching his own solo career. Margo joined the Ritz label in 1988, and recorded ' Two's Company ' with Daniel. In 1989, she was honoured in Kincasslagh at an event that included a surprise appearance from Daniel, in recognition of her 25 years in showbusiness. In 1991 she formed a new band, Sweet dreams. with John Glenn as her co-vocalist, but she later changed the name back to her old band name, Country Folk. In 1994 Ritz released New Beginnings which included her hit single, 'The Eyes Of My Child' as well as a new version of her old hit, I'll Forgive And I'll Try To Forget ', but in 1995 she joined the Hazel Label. Margo has never strayed far from her early influences, in either her concert appearances or her recorded output . Many people call her " The Queen Of Country and Irish " On June 27th. 2002, Margo launched her album, ' I'm Still Here ' with Tulip records. To update..Margo now has a new cd, called..Margo Now.
