C.Tunnicliffe
Tunnicliffe was for a time a farmer in the Macclesfield area,on his parents' farm, before deciding to devote his time to art and starting his training at Macclesfield School of Art.
1901  - Born in Langley, Cheshire.
1915-1921  -  Macclesfield and Manchester Schools of Art.
1921-1925 -  Royal College of Art  (Royal Exhibition Scholarship)
1944        -   Elected Associate of the Rotal Academy of Arts.
1947       -   Went to live at Malltraeth, Anglesey where he still lives and works.
1954      -    Elected Royal Academician

The Ladybird titles illustrated by Tunnicliffe are truly beautiful and give some idea of why he is one of the most avidly-collected book illustrators.
Many of his other books are decorated predominately with woodcut illustrations for which he is justly famous.
