"Journey Into Tomorrow" is the working title of my new CD. Expected release for this album is probably Spring 2009. I am planning on this being an independent release on my own "Righteous Bug" label. This one is shaping up to be edgier than FOB with more of a focus on "alternative grass roots Americana bluesy acoustic stuff with a Celtic flair" (Eddie Cochran meets Ben Harper meets Flogging Molly?). It will include some reworked songs from my first (now Out of Print") CD as well as new songs"

"Fear Of Bridges" was my first CD. It was released in 1999 and was available through distrobution on Soul Joy Records. Currently "Out Of Print", it sold mainly in the US but also in Europe and Japan thanks to internet sales. While my writing/playing/singing/producing has evolved, I continue to get great feedback about this raw "grassroots" album. Hi, my name is Ralph F. Glaser, I also write and record under the name "urbanfolksinger" (mainly over the past 3-4 years). My first CD came out in 1999 and was more straight off folk/celtic. A lot has changed in my taste and style since then and I have gotten influence more by Americana roots of Rock & Roll. I still love Christian and Celtic music as well as many styles of Rock and old school "real" Punk (Clash, Pistols, etc.). My new CD (have too many varying styles of songs written and recorded so far) will probably end up having a blend of all these (whenever I end up releasing it). Right now there is a good chance it will end up being released under the name "urbanfolksinger." Either way, MP3s will be on this sight when it is complete! Thanks for visiting my page (I also have Myspace, the link is below). The following is more info about myself and my music! I have had the priviledge of performing my original music in various settings (clubs, coffee houses, festivals, etc.) throughout the US. I also have extensive experience as a Christian worship leader and have lead worship at church and parachurch events throughout the U.S., Japan, and Iraq.

My main equipment setup:
1997 Taylor 612C acoustic guitar (Fishman Matrix Natural undersaddle pickup installed), Genz-Benz Shenandoah 100 acoustic amplifier (this is my full PA in smaller venues), DOD FX7, Shure Beta 58 Microphones, Elixir Polyweb Strings (L), and Jim Dunlop Picks (.48mm). I also have a 2006 Gretsch G5120 hollowbody electric guitar (modified with T.V. Jones Classic Pickups and Grover Tuners) which I play through a Fender Blues Jr. (U. S. made), and a 1986 Ovation Ultra Deluxe acoustic guitar. I also play the Bodhran, Djembe, Bongos, and various percussive things. My wife Lisa has added flute, recorder, tin whistle, and piano parts to some of my songs and occasionally plays live with me as well! For home recording I use a Roland BR 1200CD Workstation and Cubase software for mastering.

Among my varied array of musical influences are (in no particular order): The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Ben Harper, Indigo Girls, Ani Difranco, Dave Matthews, The Pogues, Phil Keaggy, Oasis, Christy Moore, The Clash, Joe Strummer, Iona, Brian Setzer, Straycats, BSO, Jim Heath, Bob Marley, The Jam, Paul Weller, Scotty Moore, Eddie Cochran, Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, Eden's Bridge, David Bird and most forms of Roots/Blues, Rockabilly, and "Celtic" music. I also have "roots" in the early Sun Records/Sun Studio stuff. Honorable mentions (not really influences, but mostly musicians and composers I greatly admire) include (in no particular order): Eithne N Bhraonin (Enya), Norah Jones and The Handsome Band, Bob Dylan, Randy Newman, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley (especially '54-'61), Danny Elfman, Loreena McKennit, James Horner, and Mr. Bean (Rowan Atkinson).

The digitally recorded CD "Fear of Bridges", originally available through a distribution contract with Soul Joy Records in the Fall of 1999 (my first actual recording contract was with Ecclectica/N*Soul Records for the Genkideska project). "Fear of Bridges" was a mix of Celtic Christian folk with an "alternative" flair. . As of this writing the CD is currently "out of print" (though you may still find it at Amazon.com or elsewhere on the net). Two tracks ("Rain In Belfast and "To The Nines") are featured on the RMMGA Vol. II CD. My songs from this album also also showed up on a number of acoustic Christian, Celtic, And Acoustic Alternative compilation CDs. A new recording is already in the works and has an expected release date is Spring 2009. The working title for this release is "Journey Into Tomorrow" and it's taking on an "alternative/grass roots bluesy Americana acoustic edge with a Celtic flair" (Eddie Cochran meets Ben Harper meets Flogging Molly). I should have MP3s up on the site soon (or on my Myspace page). I am planning on this being an independent release on my own "Righteous Bug" label. Support Independent Music!

Miscellaneous Glaser Trivia:

I did the GenkideSka Third Wave Ska project that had an international release through N*Soul/Eclectica Records back in 1998 ("Skanktified" CD). I originally made my start in semi-professional music as a trumpet player at the age of 17 with "The Gladiator Jazz Band" (this was my one and only time being a "card carrying member" of the Musicians Union), and have played bass guitar and did vocals with a few notable midwest recording bands (namely "Saffire," "OR," and "The Social Insects"). I am a former University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Music Major and have a Bachelors Degree in Youth Ministry from Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois; and a Master of Divinity degree from Bethel Seminary San Diego. I have lived in various areas around the United States, my favorites being Racine, WI (my hometown-I am a huge Green Bay Packer fan), Clarksville/Nashville, TN; and San Diego, CA. I am currently an active duty Army Chaplain stationed at Fort Sill, OK. In the past I have served with 2/54 Infantry out of Fort Benning, GA, and 1/327 Infantry of the 101st Airborne Division out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky. It was with the 101st that I deployed to Iraq in support of OIF 4.

also the place where Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash,

Rockabilly/Rock and Roll as a whole, had their beginnings!
Sun Studio is still a working studio today!
