Sped ed teacher came in to discuss next years classroom assignment-wishes to be in 8th grade- doesn’t want to teach 7th grade curric and wants to collab with a teacher- Sped ed teacher stated that “collab helps most with low not id sped; coteachng helps everyone” – SJ stated that sped teacher will need to follow reg ed teachers plans with modifications; SJ stated that sped will have expectations and it will be part of eval; asked Sped ed teacher come up with expectations at collab planning meeting 6/28 and 6/29

Adams called. SJ praised Academic coach for her assistance, SJ stated “team effort to get things done”- SJ board giving band program $3000 to replace instruments; every 2 years rotating band program will get $10,000.  UGA professor to work with band teachers to build continuity in schools

 

Chorus will also get some money.

 

While talking to Adams; checking email and teach GA- chorus teacher wants out of chorus, having trouble with left hand, wants to go to sped

AG called re certifying CRCT scores; SJ asked about 16% points given to schools; AG stated that yes we would get the points; will make safe harbor for sped LA, not enough points for sped math, still in needs improvement status; SJ doesn’t want to sign off on scores till sure about 16%; SJ checked to see if school will make AYP under safe harbor, multiyear averaging or confidence interval, SJ shared that we are losing ground with disadvantaged students in math, will be next area of concern

Made AYP for 2nd indicator – attendance- 14.1% special ed absenteeism – could be because some students attend alternative schools and yet the base school is held accountable for students that attend other school

 

SJ looking for more info on CRCT scores-ST has data disk – can check disk out with Superintendent’s  approval

Personnel director stated that teacher OK and will be board approved for 7th grade LA vacancy- SJ looking for resumes of other possible candidates while talking to Personnel director – FACS teacher emailing SJ daily about whether approved for position – no response from Personnel director; SJ asked if I knew anything about Prosper Software for benchmark testing – training 7/12 and 13 at BOE; KT sent SJ funny email- SJ stated “needed to laugh”

Personnel director explained what would happen if SJ hires teacher that has clear renewable certificate but is not highly qualified in area because of GACE test; letter has to be sent within first 20 days of school; can put twist on letter since teacher is certified; CPI (?) done twice a year, beginning and end of year

6.22.07  Shadow of Middle School Curriculum Director – A.G.

 

I chose to shadow the middle school curriculum director because she had previously been an assistant principal at my current school.  I wanted to compare/contrast working at the school level as opposed to working at the county level.  This is her last day before she receives her summer vacation and is in process of making preparations for a European trip with her children.
