Recently I had been so busy I almost didn’t have the time to write anything. However, my determination had gotten a better hold of me. It shook me awake, and told me that there's always time if I allow myself to write.

And just what does this word “Determination” mean? On the surface, it means arriving at one’s conclusion in deciding to do something in which the decision to act upon cannot be swayed otherwise.

How many times have we thought of doing something and only to end up putting it off for another day... then for yet another day “when the time comes along?” At the end, that “something” was never done.

When we move to further analyze the definition of this word, “determination” actually takes an active part in our lives because it helps enable us to move forward. Once our goal is acted upon, things are done, and we are free to move forward. This decision needs a lot of our self-discipline to carry out. It is different to the word “Decide”, for whenever we decide to do something it does not always mean that we are going to do it. Without “determination”, our decisions would easily be swayed, and then before we know it, time has passed and the things that should have been done, remain still incomplete.

Another way to define the word “determination” is, knowing that we have summed up everything, and come to the conclusion that something definitely needs to be acted upon. It is a conclusion to convince ourselves that this time we are going to put our foot down and make things happen.

Many great leaders of the world have great determination. It helps them to make decisions that are beneficial to them, as well as others in their country as a whole. A person without determination is easily swayed from his/her own decision to make a change for the greater good.

“Determination” also allows us to acknowledge our own beliefs. When we believe that we can do something, we then make the final conclusion to act according to our own beliefs. We should never ignore this principle, for life takes on special meaning when we have our own convictions supporting our determining ideals. This faith in our actions helps us to succeed in our goals.

When a person is determined to achieve success, he/she will most likely become successful. Determination helps us to discipline ourselves. How we meet our own future greatly relies upon how determined we are when making our own decisions.

Let us all ask ourselves the following question:

“How determined am I to succeed?”

If you know the answer, then start your journey towards your own conclusion today!
