"A Time for Remembering"
Saturday, June 10, 2006
Previously dated June 26-28, 2015
Event time changed to correlate with the Sandhills Alumni Association event.
Shirley Saner of the Sandhills Alumni Association reported the organization's event was a success this year!  Nearly 125 alumni attended, with the Class of '55 and '56 being fully represented.  Classes with the years ending in 4, 5 and 6 were the honored alumni for this year's event.

At 3:00 p.m., dozens of guests socialized at the Dunning Park.  Entertainment was provided by
Marvin Rader's ('49) grandson of Lincoln.  The teen played his trumpet, and was accompanied by a band.

Later, the Double-T Bar of Halsey provided catering for the delicious dinner at the Dunning Community Hall.  As mentioned in the invitation,
Emery Haynes ('80) was the surprise guest speaker during the banquet.  She entertained the audience with a humorous speech!

A dance followed the dinner inside the Community Hall, with entertainment provided by a local man & wife team that played the guitar and keyboard.

Saner said prizes were given to numerous people, such as Ed "Junior" Payne ('86) for the youngest alumni, Miller Heller ('39) for the oldest alumni, and Jerry Sweeney ('56) for traveling the farthest from Virginia.  Saner added that visitors also traveled into town from California, Connecticut, Iowa, Colorado and Utah.

Saner said the next Sandhills Alumni Association gathering is slated for Saturday, June 13, 2009 at the Nebraska National Forest at Halsey.  Classes ending in 7, 8 and 9 will be honored.
Sandhills Alumni Association has selected the second Saturday in June,
every third year, as a permanent date for future alumni celebrations.
