Anderson Redford, MI 48239 1) The purpose of this program is to help kids learn their ABCs, and let the whole family have fun modifying the pictures and sounds if they want. When you substitute your voices, the kids enjoy it much more. ************************************************************************* - For WIN95 and WIN 98 Users - 6/99 a) Create a directory called Alpha-sa on C: b) Move alphsazp.exe file to C:\alpha-sa c) Double-click alphsazp.exe and it will self extract d) Create a short-cut to alpha-sa.exe and run the program ************************************************************************* 2) Minimum Requirements: Windows 3.1, a mouse, VGA monitor, Sound Card a) Type: ALPHsAzp to unzip the files into a directory C:\ALPHA-SA. b) In Windows 3.1, under File , New : Create a program item, and hit OK. Description: ALPHA-SA Command line: C:\ALPHA-SA\ALPHA-SA.EXE Change Icon: pick OK & finally pick OK again. Or . . . under File , Run : type C:\ALPHA-SA\A.REC and hit OK. It will take you into Recorder; under Macro: pick RUN. 3) The following files should be contained in a directory C:\ALPHA-SA A1.WAV to Z1.WAV are the (26) sound files. A1.BMP or .WMF to Z1.BMP or .WMF are the (26) picture files. ALPHA-SA.EXE , ALPHA-SA.TXT , PEN02.ICO main files Also needed are: THREED.VBX , MMSYSTEM.DLL , VBRUN300.DLL These files need to be placed in your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory if you do not have them already. If you have these 3 files, keep yours. 4) v1.3 program pictures: apple, bird, cat, dog, elephant, frog, gopher, horse, ice cream, Jeremy, kangaroo, lion, Matt, night, owl, pig, quacker, rhino, snake, tiger, umbrella, velociraptor, wolf, x, yummies, zebra. 5) Use WinDat or other sound recorder/editor to make your own sound files. A simple microphone will plug into the back of most sound cards. Sound files must be named A1.wav, B1.wav ... Z1.wav. Use Corel Draw or another vector based program to draw .WMF. These are Windows Metafiles which scale to the picture box best. Use Paint Brush or any other paint program to make .BMP files. These files have to be sized carefully to fit in the picture box. Move these files to the directory C:\ALPHA-SA. Must use this name! 6) Thanks to Microsoft Visual Basic from which this program was created. Also, thanks to Corel Draw and the numerous clipart graphics from Corel. 7) Please distribute the original zip version of Alpha-SA to your friends.
